New to Canicross or not sure where to start? Our Intro to Canicross 1:1 Session is designed to give you and your dog the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills needed to begin your journey safely and enjoyably. This one-hour session is completely tailored to beginners, providing a relaxed and supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace. Whether you’re feeling unsure about equipment, running technique, or how to work as a team with your dog, we’ll guide you through everything step by step. We’ll start by introducing you to the essential Canicross kit, including harnesses, bungee lines, and waist belts. You’ll have the opportunity to try on and correctly fit the equipment, ensuring both you and your dog are comfortable and set up safely. If you don’t yet have your own gear, don’t worry—kit is available to borrow during the session. Once you’re set up, we’ll show you how to use the equipment properly and explain how Canicross works in practice. You’ll then head out for a short run, where we’ll observe your movement and provide simple, effective coaching to improve your running form and efficiency. A key part of the session is learning how to communicate and work with your dog. We’ll introduce basic cues, handling techniques, and tips to help your dog understand what’s expected, building a positive and enjoyable experience for both of you. This session is not about speed or performance—it’s about building confidence, learning the foundations, and setting you up for success. By the end, you’ll feel more comfortable, more informed, and ready to continue your Canicross journey.
